We Enjoy Being Together

Relationships are at the center of our life in Christ.

First, our relationship to Christ. We are not our own, we are bought at a price. God redeemed us from our self-directed lives and has fashioned us to become masterpieces of His. We have therefore surrendered our self-centeredness to live godly lives. The way he forms us is in community--families.

Second, we want to live as followers of Jesus.  We are, therefore, an intentional Christian community--a family of families following Jesus Christ. We have drawn these principles of community from the New Testament scriptures together with the leading of the Holy Spirit of God. We have found that the most user-friendly way to do that is to live as Jesus designed his new community to live. So we have organized ourselves in holistic small groups--groups aimed at spiritual wholeness. These groups meet from house to house as in Acts 20:20.

The result?  With few exceptions, we are experiencing NEW LIFE!!  We have not arrived at the full godliness to which he calls us, but we continue to move toward it and find ourselves walking in varying levels of spiritual freedom and Christlikeness. Spiritual growth exceeds anything we have experienced in more traditional forms of fellowship. Not that we are 'better' than the traditional church. It has its ministry and many of us first heard and accepted the Good News of God there. But we desire to beyond formalism into the LIFE that God has called us to enter--here and now.  Since covenant commitment is at the heart of our fellowship at New Life, sit-and-soak "Christians" don't stay for long. We don't consider 'numbers' as our measure of effectiveness. Rather, we consider change, transformation and wholeness, Christlikeness to be the mark of healthy disciples. That work is slow and hard and can only be done in community. That is the Vehicle of Change God has given us.
