The Elders

New Life Fellowship is led by the Lord Jesus Christ through godly leaders that He has raised up. The Elders have been called by God, appointed by the Lord, and confirmed by the people to shepherd the flock. They oversee the spiritual growth and issues of the families and individuals who are a part of this covenant community.

Each elder has been tested and has walked out a year under the supervision of the other elders and pastors. Then, he is appointed to serve for as long as he is walking with Christ and is an example to the flock.

The current elders are: David Alves and Bob Jeffers, along with their wives.

We also have deacons who serve the temporal needs of the people: the Ridons and the Lemoines

Dr. David C Alves is our Teaching Elder responsible for the Ministry of the Word--spiritual formation coaching, preaching/teaching, and writing.

David has served the Lord for 34 years. He served with an evangelistic team for his first year as a young believer. He then returned to graduate from
Asbury University with a BS in English/ Secondary Ed. From there he served as Director of Outreach at a New England church and went on to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he took his Master of Divinity in 1988. All the while he studied, he ministered in churches, camps and conferences with Marcy. Together they did concerts and renewal weeks and weekends in a variety of United Methodist, Baptist, Episcopal, Congregational, Assembly of God, Four-Square, Salvation Army, and Evangelical churches both domestically and overseas. In 1988, he was ordained by the American Baptist Conference USA and in 1996 by the Advent Christian Maranatha Conference.

David earned his doctorate (D.Min.) from
Regent University in Christian Leadership, church health, transitioning and revitalization. He is a certified church health coach of Natural Church Development. He has spent 17 years in itinerant ministry and 17 as a local pastor. Pastor Dave is bi-vocational serving as the Director of Frontline Ministries where he writes and speaks and as our lead Elder. David's missions trips have taken him to Canada, Brazil, UK, and the Republic of Georgia.

Dave also writes, and loves to fly (Microsoft Flight Simulator). His articles have appeared often in Cell Church, The Witness, at Smallgroups.com and at Godlyplaces.com. He also maintains a personal blog, "David's Place,"(
http://davidcalves.com/)** for those on spiritual journey. He has written numerous short stories, poems, and essays which he shares on his fiction blog. His most recent book is entitled, We're the "sons of God" . . . So What? (subtitled: Believe God About Who You Really Are), available at our online bookstore and at Venture bookstore, iUniverse.com, Parable Bible Bookstore, Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

His passion for sharing the heart of the Father and for whole families is the source of his desire for men to become true men, reflecting Christ in their homes, churches, jobs, and schools, so that Jesus may be seen, known, and loved.

Together, David and Marcy are spiritual parents, modeling the exchanged life and providing practical-living encouragement for New Life and the greater Body of Christ.
